Fics like a good fit

The picture of Fitzjames in Francis’s mind begins to crystalize: this is an audition. Though Fitzjames is no Arctic veteran, though he has no experience that would justify his position as Francis’s second or even his lieutenant—he will prove that he has other skills. He will prove that he is a fast learner. Francis lets himself imagine, just for a moment, Fitzjames bent and bound over his desk on Terror, waiting to be made useful. It's thrilling. James Fitzjames petitions for a job.
