Ilya, against his better judgement, is in yet another boring midsize SUV and on the way to none other than Shane’s parents cabin. Ilya knows almost nothing about these people. He knows Yuna abstractly. She is an excellent manager, cut throat, a force to be reckoned with, and the woman who singlehandedly secured the majority of Shane’s impressive sponsorship portfolio. What he does not know, and what feels most important, is how the Hollander’s are going to take to the “gay son fucking his rival thing”. To be entirely fair, it’s a lot to absorb in an afternoon. But Ilya is not concerned with protecting the delicate constitutions of the elder Hollanders. Ilya is worried about protecting Shane. Supporting Shane. Showing Shane he chose correctly when he chose Ilya, despite everything that might point to otherwise. And so, Ilya is resolute in his decision. No matter what happens, no matter what they say, he will focus on one thing: protect Shane. OR: Shane and Ilya are finally on the same page about being in love. Shane's family is not.
