Fics like Holding Out

Johnny's leaning against the counter like this is the most normal conversation in the world, expression easy, shoulders loose, completely at ease despite the fact that nothing about this conversation is normal. Then there's a tiny hesitation. Brief, but noticeable. He shrugs. "Kinda holding out for someone." After that Peter's brain hits a wall trying to process the statement and it takes him a second to notice the shift in the room around him, it wasn't silence exactly, but a sudden quieting, like everyone had paused at the same moment to make sure they'd heard that correctly. -or- Johnny tries to get Peter to realize he loves him Peter only for Peter to immediately go into detective mode to try to figure out who it is.
