Fics like The Lockpicking of a Birdcage

Wendy's days had been the exact same from the moment she unknowingly signed up for losing her legs and any semblance of a future as a Valkyrie. With every new morning that came, her legs still didn't work, the Gem of Desire was still more useful to Schicksal than she was, and her schedule was still filled with pointless experiments that did nothing but confirm what everyone already knew about her uselessness. Sometimes, Wendy wondered how she hadn't gone insane yet. Other times, she wondered if she had already long lost her mind and simply failed to notice. It was a relief, in a way, to finally get an answer. She was definitely crazy. There were, after all, only so many reasons to see a strange yellow-eyed girl opening a portal to her room.
