That was a stupid thing to assume, apparently, because his father just cocked an eyebrow at him like he was an idiot. Like Steve was the most disgusting thing he'd ever seen on the planet. "Ain't you eighteen?" "Yeah?" "Since when?" "Since a month ago!" "Then that's that," his father said simply, shrugging, "You old enough to figure yer shit out 'n find somewhere else to crash. So get off my lawn before I call the cops." Steve didn't really know how to react to that, so he just stood there and stared, dumbstruck. Or: Steve gets kicked out for good, and he refuses to tell a single soul. It takes seven months for the gang to find out.
