Fics like Full Plate

"Ya know, daddy dear wasn't all that fond of holidays," Higgs drawled out, a bit short of breath, yet still unnervingly coherent in tone, "but he used to foster a special hatred for Thanks-fucking-giving." It could have been the start of light-hearted banter over a cup of rarely sampled coffee. A more or less genuine attempt to forge a bond by sharing heart-shattering anecdotes of past trauma as one does in a world built from its bleached bones. At least it could have been so if Sam's whole nervous system wasn't currently busy trying to remember how to function. You see, it's a bit hard to concentrate on conversation of any kind when someone is plunged balls-deep in your ass to begin with.
