Fics like Hunter's Trail

It took a great amount of effort and sacrifice to pave your path to freedom from your old organization of monster hunters, and you would do anything to keep it. Anything. You already have done awful things to many people just to be able to escape from that old life of yours. Underlying guilt from your past actions constantly eats away at your soul—or what was left of it—and you've got a myriad of mental illnesses and instincts that never quite went away. You've killed hundreds—if not thousands—of humans and beasts alike all for the sake of the place you once thought of as a home. In the present, you try your hardest to live a quiet life and avoid attention. But one day, a mysterious circus makes its way into the town that had become your home. Instantly noticing the chill and the tension brought along with the strange circus, you're suspicious that there's more to the place. Is this circus some sort of front for something sinister? Something similar to your old association? Is it just your paranoia for anything that reminded you of your old life? Or maybe...it may represent a part of your past that you could never outrun. OR: A TFC AU in which the MC is a traumatized former monster hunter.
