Fics like Permafrost

“You were gone,” Kris’ eyes were glassy. Glossy. They finally landed on him. “How’d you come back?” “I was sick,” Berdly croaked, his throat as harsh as sandpaper again; it felt like he’d been heaving in stinging winter air for hours on end. “That’s all it was. An unfortunate bout of illness that I recovered from. I didn’t go anywhere, Kris.” “You were frozen,” they repeated, voice winding tighter with urgency. The word sat wrong in the air. “Don’t you remember?” OR: In which the Snowgrave Route is aborted, and Berdly wakes up. The cold doesn't leave him there.
