Fics like Hay Pigeons

You wed the King of Rohan, a hero of the War of the Ring, and he adores you. But he is reluctant to speak of his feats of arms. You wonder if he is humble, or something more, until Edoras hosts a tournament. PREVIEW: You asked him about his battlefield adventures, but he demurred, his granite-etched brow growing grim. “You are such a precious companion,” he said, “and this night so full of life and hope. Why speak about such things?” You glanced at your plate, the golden edge glinting in the firelight. “I simply wish to know,” you said. He gestured to a servant to bring more wine. “Another day,” he said. “For my feats are storied. But at times, they are not the stories I wish to tell.” (Chapter 1 is rated T. Chapter 2 is rated E).
