Fics like Chasing Phantoms

In a world that's forgotten all about cultivation, being the phantom thief Huli Jing is pretty fun—where else can Wei Wuxian flaunt his hard-won cultivation, combining magic tricks with actual magic, wowing crowds while always staying two steps ahead of the police? But this isn’t just a game. No one else has ever believed there was anything more to the fire that cost the world-famous magician Cangse-sanren and her assistant Wei Changze their lives. This is his only chance to discover the truth, one heist at a time. He won’t let anyone, not even the famous high school detective Hanguang-jun, stand in his way. or: No matter what the challenge, from academics to assisting his uncle’s police force, Lan Wangji has always come out on top. That is until a phantom thief escapes him on a moonlit rooftop and steals his breath away. After he discovers Huli Jing is a new student in his own class at the Cloud Recesses Academy, his obsession grows all-consuming. He cannot accept his growing feelings for a criminal, but he cannot deny them either. Between his desire and his duty, something will have to break. Neither of them are prepared for the danger waiting ahead. Story is complete, updates every 1-2 days.
