Fics like The Shape of Waiting

After a near-fatal encounter with Rerir, Vice Captain Lohen is forced off the battlefield and into recovery. Stuck behind the frontlines while the war continues without him, he finds himself haunted by a familiar frustration: no matter how hard he trains, it is never enough. Illuga knows that feeling all too well. Left behind in Piramida while the people he cares about risk their lives against the Wild Hunt, he keeps himself busy with reports, errands, and anything else that stops him from waiting. What begins as a chance encounter between an injured knight and a Lightkeeper slowly becomes something neither of them expected. Or: Lohen and Illuga discover that loneliness is easier to bear when shared.
