Fics like The Sound of Silence

It wasn’t as though he one day chose to cease speaking. It just happened. No one wanted to engage him in conversation anymore. None of the fellow knights seemed to know what to do with him. All were a varied mix of jealous, pitying, and awed. Link could not decide which he hated most, and so he withdrew into himself more, replacing the hours that had once been filled with camaraderie and friendship with training. Sunup to sundown, he practiced. Sometimes under the watchful eye of his Captain, sometimes on his own, a lone figure on the training field. Others gave him a wide berth, eyeing his intense stance and expression with wariness. It was not enough, Link discovered. People looked to him with a desperate desire. They wanted his reassurance. They wanted his heroism, like the heroes of years past. They wanted him to save them. ~~~ Over the years, Link's relationship with verbally speaking has changed as his circumstances have. Each chapter will cover a different time period of his life, from Pre-Calamity to Post-Totk. Each chapter can be read on its own, like a one-shot, if you're avoiding spoilers.
