Fics like The 'Off' Season

“Do you know why you’re in the hospital?” Ilya’s voice was close again. Shane shook his head slowly. “Can’t remember.” It sounded like Ilya took in a deep breath before he said, “You had an accident. Hit your head. Got another concussion.” “What was the accident?” At the cottage with Ilya, Shane has an accident that means he can’t play in the upcoming season. While staying at Ilya’s house in Boston, he has to figure out who the fuck he is without the game, and navigate the unexpected emotions he feels as Ilya continues thriving. Plus, the strain of keeping their relationship secret while living together only adds to the pressure. Canon divergence that follows episode 6 of season 1. TV show canon.
