Fics like Falling

King Namjoon’s voice remains calm, steady, a king addressing his nation. “It is with profound sadness that we must inform the nation that yesterday, the individual meant to become the Seventh Monarch has passed away before ever being able to take their rightful place among the Seven.” Jungkook watches the man, the First Monarch of his nation, deliver the words he'd wanted to hear more than anything. The TV crackles with the deafening silence on the palace's plaza. Jungkook smiles. They made it. He's officially declared dead. ~~ or; Four years ago, Jeon Jungkook chose freedom over the crown. While the nation mourned the death of the Seventh Monarch, Jungkook gained the life he's always wanted for himself. Now living rather quietly as a normal art student, he has no intention whatsoever of returning to the world he'd just barely avoided. Unfortunately, fate itself - and six very persistent monarchs - seem to have missed the memo.
