Fics like The Ghost of What We Will Be

Based on a beautiful work of fanart: Before Robby goes on his death march sabbatical, he does something reckless that leaves Dennis reeling... especially after he gets a text from Robby saying goodbye once he tries to talk to him about it. He assumes the worst, but things aren't always as they seem. Excerpt: Dennis can feel him everywhere. Every corner he turns at work he expects Robby’s hands to be emerging from, steering him by the neck or the shoulders. He turns around after a particularly impressive save only to find no one’s fists waiting to bump. Sometimes he can swear he really does feel him there, his neck heating up like a large hand is spanning it, but he knows it’s just his imagination. After all… Robby’s dead.
