Fics like Terrarium

Toji auctioned his son to Naobito with a starting price of ¥7,000,000. Naobito raised Toji ¥10,000,000, dependent on his technique. Since Megumi was summarily orphaned in 2006 – by Satoru – he’s now free game. A child was bartered, and now a child will be displaced, without ever knowing of the 'money talk' had behind his back. The tragedy of Megumi’s youth is not lost on Satoru. In fact, it’s painfully nostalgic, the notion of being stripped of your personhood before you can fully develop one. Megumi’s never been to school; likely can’t ride a bicycle; doesn’t, realistically, possess the bilateral coordination required to tie his own shoelaces. He still has his milk teeth, and yet – he already has a price. And the girl he’s with is, diametrically, completely worthless. He would like to say his next move is selfless. That it’s about the emancipation of a child from shackles with which he is well-acquainted. And it is, to an extent. But in the end, this isn’t really about Megumi’s salvation. It’s about Satoru’s. Because the thing with power is – It’s lonely. (They say it takes a village to raise a child. It takes four powerful sorcerers to raise two.)
