At the far edge of the cemetery, beneath a maple shedding red leaves like old blood, the earth above William Byers shifted. Six feet below, inside a coffin lined in white satin, Will Byers lay with his hands folded over his stomach. No worms. No rot. No sunken cheeks or ruined skin. The dress Joyce had chosen with shaking hands, the dress he had asked for before the end, covered him in layers of white. Long sleeves. A fitted bodice. A skirt that pooled around his legs like fog. Gothic and delicate, almost bridal, except no one had come to a church for him. Only a hole in the ground. Only rain. Only Mike Wheeler carrying him until his knees gave out. Will’s chest rose. The sound did not belong in a coffin. OR- what happens when Will Byers powers resurrect him on the anniversary of being killed by vecna? what happens when the first person he goes to after waking is Mike Wheeler?
