Fics like Scary Stories and Space Oddities

Popular tales in Eridian folklore include a long, lanky creature that cracks the carapaces of those who enter the ocean. So when Erid’s saviour returns in a small, foreign spaceship, missing 23 crewmates, and presenting a creature with an uncanny resemblance to their cautionary tales, Erid is, understandably, horrified. Yet at some point, somehow, the creature had found its way into the hearts of Eridians, and the grotesque alien from the unknown of space became a beloved teacher of their most vulnerable. Or: Erid learns to love Grace.
