Fics like Before He Said Yes

For nearly a year, Wemmbu has been patiently courting Flame—never rushing, never pushing. He buys his favorite flowers, knows his siblings well enough to get added to the family group chat, and somehow ends up becoming Flame's emergency contact before he's even his boyfriend. And despite knowing exactly how he feels, Flame can't bring himself to say yes. Not because he doesn't love him. But because saying yes means everything becomes real. Flame knows all of this and that's a problem. The bigger problem is that Flame is hopelessly in love with him. The even bigger problem is that every time he considers saying yes, Wemmbu does something ridiculous—like fly across the country because Flame had a bad day, remember a snack he mentioned six months ago, or casually offer someone a spare Tesla on Twitter. or; For nearly a year—Wemmbu courted Flame with the kind of devotion people only write about in novels. You know. Normal things people do for someone who isn't technically their boyfriend. Flame is handling this very normally. (P.S. He is not handling this normally.)
