Fics like The Ticket Spike

"He's tracing the lines of the popcorn ceiling with his eyes, both paralyzed and violently opposed to it. He checks the time again. 5:29, Sunday, August 4. Christ. Maybe after this fucking day is over, he'll be a real functioning person again. Another minute’s gone. Every second counts. It blares in his head sometimes; the blue sign turns too vibrant like a blinding black light. He scrubs his yellow teeth, gets dressed, smoothes his oily hair down, disgustedly washes the coating of oil off his hands, and is ready in record time. Then, he paces his apartment, needing something. It’s 5:37 AM, and he already feels like he’s done today all wrong." - On a difficult date, the symptoms of Carmy's undiagnosed OCD ramp up significantly. (Updated June 7)
