Fics like a man after midnight

On New Year’s Eve of 1990, Mike accidentally contributes to the rapid progression of the little game he and Will have been playing for the past year and a half. It’s then that he realizes that he has to straighten himself up before the clock strikes twelve and he’s stuck being the same yearning loser he’s been forever. When the Party gets to their chosen celebration of the night, Mike makes an attempt to get drunk enough to get his mind off the thing he can’t ever seem to forget about and enjoy the atmosphere. But when he sees a stupid frat guy flirting with Will, the familiar jealousy bubbles in his gut, and he stands alone with his thoughts until he gives up on the entire notion of moving on. Then Will finds him sulking outside, and the game starts to progress in a direction that neither of them are prepared to take.
