Fics like Running Water

“Hah-!” Carlos stumbled, instinctively rolled away from the Flow and lay there panting and trembling and exhausted. So much had happened. It was nothing short of a miracle that he’d survived. Carlos leaned his head against the cobbles and reached under the collar of his shirt, pulled out his little vial of flow water, clutched to it tight as though it would keep him safe. And it had, hadn’t it? The power of the Flow had proven itself when Carlos called upon it to command Pete. When he was moments away from feeling that automaton slam into him, cold unyielding porcelain and steam so hot it would have singed the fur from his skin. He had been lucky. No, he had been blessed. Carlos brought the little diamond-shaped vial to his head, pressed a kiss to the glass. Managed to catch his breath enough to whisper reverent thanks under his breath. To pray, curled up alone in the Donlon underground sewer system. ~*~ As Carlos returns to the Donlon underground to reconnect with Silt Saint Vulpin, he thinks back on the last few days and makes a decision.
