Fics like Diadem for a Librarian

“You only have one chance to pass this test,” Qifrey said, raising a finger into the air, “but I have every confidence that you will.” Of course he did. The Consent of the Crown was a test taken by witches as young as seven. Would-be apprentices only being given one chance wasn’t a measure of strictness. It was a way of pretending something was more important than it really was, like handing a child a piece of rock sugar and asking them to keep the diamond safe. The child got a feeling of accomplishment, and the adult got time to spend drawing real magic. Agott nodded. “I won’t be long.” --- A perspective on what Agott’s first test looked like.
