Fics like Be Careful What You Wish For

Life in the Fire Nation is wonderful. Five years into their marriage, Zuko and Toph have found a peaceful rhythm between ruling a nation, policing a metropolis, and raising their chaotic, fire-sneezing four-year-old daughter, Izumi. When the Gaang gathers at the Southern Air Temple to await the birth of Katara and Aang's first child, a well-meaning, passing comment about the "priceless first sight of your baby" cuts Toph deeper than anyone realizes. She loves her daughter through every vibration in the earth, but she has never known the color of Izumi's eyes, or the exact shape of Zuko's smile. It is her deepest, most silent angst. When Katara asks her to fly out for medicinal herbs, Toph encounters a mysterious witch who offers her the impossible: twenty-four hours of true visual sight.
