Colin raised his eyebrows, kept his face blank. – If you must know, yes. I work well on my own. Bill pursed his lips in a tight, irritated line. – I’ve noticed. You’ve actually been a great bait all on your own. If that was the plan, congratulations. It worked brilliantly. Colin thought it very unfair that he was literally pinned in place and had to suffer through Bill’s bitter, biting sarcasm without a chance to dodge it. – But here’s the thing, you do not work alone anymore – Bill continued, relentless. – You’re part of a team now, and I’m your partner and we are supposed to do these things together. Colin tried to reply, but a look from Bill changed his mind: he was really worked up about this, even if he was hiding it behind his usual facade of professionalism. Straight out an FBI recruitment poster, this man, all business, boring ties and repressed emotions.
