Fics like The Things Fire Leaves Behind

Ishval burned. Edward Elric survived. Hidden beneath dyed hair, false gold eyes, and an Amestrian name, the last son of the Surya tribe grows up carrying the weight of a country that no longer exists. After losing his mother during the Ishvalan War and failing the human transmutation that costs him his arm, his leg, and his brother’s body, Edward enters the State Military for one reason only: to get Alphonse back and leave. Instead, he finds something far more dangerous. A place at Roy Mustang’s side. A team that slowly becomes home. And warmth in the very people he was taught he should fear. But survival has always demanded secrecy. Edward hides his faith, his language, and the red eyes that would still make him a target under Amestrian law. As old conspiracies unravel and the ghosts of Ishval rise alongside the truth behind the Philosopher’s Stone, Edward is forced to confront the impossible contradiction at the centre of his life: How do you heal in the hands of the people who helped destroy you? TLDR: Ed and al are ishvalan. Ed has a complicated relationship with Roy mustang. Eventual Roy/Ed but nothing saucy. this is pure emotions and healing up in here
