Fics like A Knight Needs a King (No He Doesn't)

Derek was tired. The King had tried to pretend at first, still did, to be even the smallest bit Avery. Pretended it cared at all about the world it conquered beyond what it could give it. Pretended…pretended it loved him. Of course, Derek never believed the King. It wasn’t capable of such a thing. Obsession, maybe, though he had no idea what about him would possibly catch its attention when it had held such clear disdain for him before, but not love. It had to be a game of some sort to the King, tormenting him with the face of his…with the face of Avery just to watch him suffer. ----- Or Just a short oneshot of me just wanting to write the dynamics in my King Avery au and get a better idea of how they think about each other.
