Fics like I'm Just Happy You Still Call

Yuna Hollander knows that it is normal for children to distance themselves from their parents as they approach adulthood. She expected it when Shane was a teenager, when he moved to Kingston for juniors, even later, when he moved to Montreal. When they stayed close, when he seemed happy to see them at his games, to have her managing his career, when he seemed not only to love them, but to still like having them around… When he invited her for dinner with his boyfriend and the four of them laughed until the summer sun dropped below the lake, she thought maybe this was one challenge of parenthood she would be spared. Which makes the day it finally happens all the harder to bear. Or, Yuna Hollander and the joy and anguish of growing up.
