“I wish you could take a look at yourself right now. You look like Carrie, ready to burn an entire prom down,” Langdon adjusted her weight before resuming the climb. “Anyway, I can’t get home shirtless or covered in blood, so I’ll have to borrow something. Sorry.” “And it won’t be weird if you show up in someone else’s clothes?” “I doubt it. At my house, clothes go straight into the wash without anyone looking twice,” he said the last words with a lot of effort. “But if I show up half-naked or covered in blood, people will definitely ask what the hell happened.” “By people, you mean your wife.” “I guess.” “Ooh…You’re in trouble.” . . . . . Or: A story set in an alternate universe where Mel — not Santos — is the one who discovers Langdon’s addiction, and the consequences that follow. Frank Langdon has been dealing with unbearable guilt after mistreating his new student on her very first day, right after she discovered his secret. Trying to ease his conscience, he searches for a way to fix what he’s done, all while struggling with his addiction. The story features stylistic elements inspired by the album WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA.
