“He felt weighted down, like his limbs were added baggage that he couldn’t deal with. Everything ached, and his nose was running for miles. He must’ve been an awful sight, snot dribbling down his chin. He had never felt so disgusting in his entire life. He had always gotten sick as a child — always taken the hits horribly hard. I mean one time he’d been so sick he caught pneumonia and ended up in the hospital. Back then, his parents were still happy, and so was he. It had been easier back then. He hadn’t had to worry as much, always having someone at his bedside. He could say the same for now, he had Hannah. But, he’d gotten so used to taking care of himself over the last several years, especially since his mother had started to care for him less when his father had passed.” Or: Jacob palmer attends a family dinner, even when he is unwell. He finds love from those around him. Aka: Jacob finally being fully accepted into the Weaver family.
