Fics like Old Habits Die Screaming

10 years after the events of the Metaverse, Ren’s adult life is gray. Grappling with alcoholism, anxiety, and crushing levels of self-loathing, every night Ren goes to sleep and lucid dreams to escape the waking world crumbling around him. In his lucid dream, he builds a perfect, quiet version of LeBlanc. He conjures a Dream Akechi, who is programmed to just sit idly in a booth and drink coffee, letting Ren project his worries and loneliness onto him. It was the perfect escape. Until the night Ren tried to die. The sweet hallucination vanished, replaced by a Dreamkechi that refuses to let him quit and drags him back to the living, waking world - no matter how much it hurts him.
