Fics like i could not save you (no, i can't even save myself)

The launch happens while Colt is stuck in the hospital. Alone. At first, he’s annoyed. Confused. Angry, maybe. Mostly scared, if he’s being completely honest with himself. He’s not used to being alone. Okay, well, he’s been alone before. Duh. Everyone has. He means really alone. He’s been alone like this before: for eight minutes at birth, for a few weeks being placed apart in the system once, and for the time that Ryland ghosted everyone after being disgraced from academia. But this feels different from even that. .... It’s been over a year since the fall. Over a year since the launch. Colt is not doing well. (The Hail Mary ship launches a few days after Colt's accident. A year later, he's still grappling with the guilt and confusion over not being there when whatever happened to his brother happened, when he's thrown back into stunt work for Jody's movie. Oh, and he's being framed for murder.)
