Fics like put your guard down (I'll do the same)

Jake has served in the King's guard since he was sixteen. He was nineteen when Bradley Bradshaw, crown prince of the kingdom, decided he was worth looking twice at. Years later, the repercussions have come home to roost. — Maybe it was good, though, for the court to recognize just how dire Bradley's heats had gotten. Maybe then Lord Mitchell or Kazansky would force Bradley's hand with choosing a mate, and he'd be properly crowned, and then Jake wouldn't be guilty, a selfish and horrible Alpha with no claim but all the damage.
