Fics like Where the Red Flowers Grow

A note, "New practices, new tactics," found at the beginning of the game, alludes to Geoffrey's firsthand familiarity with French war tactics. He calls it "A new war" because he has already been to one. He returns from the Great War to continue leading the Guard as if nothing had happened, but the scars he bears from the front sooner or later attract witnesses to his decline. His entire past—his family, his duty, his legacy—transforms from a foundation into a noose around his neck.
