Fics like The Thing With Feathers

“What do you mean you have an ancient map to a forgotten civilization,” says Wemmbu, sitting on one of the roots of his tree-base, sharpening his sword on a hand-held grindstone and listening to Eggchan talk some genuine nonsense. “Were you not listening,” Egg says. The feathers of the wings around his head puff up. If Wemmbu were less versed in Egg body-language he would not know that this means frustration. Unfortunately, he is. Fortunately, he can just pretend he isn’t. “No, bro,” he says. “I was. I just need you to run it back, ‘cause you sound insane.” ---- Egg and Wemmbu embark on an adventure of Parrot-esque peculiarity. Maybe the real treasure is the friends they made along the way.
