Fics like budding and blooming

They meet in Paris, when she is still Queen of France and he a young Duke of Normandy. He comes to her chambers exactly as planned, veiled in the dark and secrecy of a castle at night, carrying not so much as a candle to light his way to her doorstep. Whether it is a young man’s folly or an experienced charmer’s skill, Eleanor does not let on to her surprise. It is best not to feed a young duke’s pride too much, especially one with a crown looming over him in the distance, too far to touch but close enough to feel.
