Fics like The Hours Between

On the morning of Pitfest, everything feels normal. Jack comes home from a brutal night shift to find his fiancée waiting for him, making breakfast, teasing him, loving him in all the quiet ways that keep them both grounded. It is simple, domestic, and fleeting. Later that day, while she’s enjoying her rare time off at the festival, everything changes in an instant when a shooting breaks out. Injured and fading, her last thought is of him. When she’s rushed into the very hospital they both work at, Jack is forced into the one situation he can never prepare for, being on the other side of it, watching the person he loves most become the patient. A story about the fragile line between normalcy and chaos, the weight of loving someone in a world that takes too much, and the quiet, desperate hope of choosing each other again when it matters most.
