Season nine can't hurt you here. After the events of Existence Mulder and Scully find themselves in New England caught in the web of Mulder's parents' unfinished business. They find themselves the unwitting focus of dark forces as they try to build a life for themselves, and figure out who they are now that they're parents. There are connections to the old and new mytharc, lots of angst, and smut. This work follows Mulder and Scully for the first three years after Existence. This is my first standalone piece, and for whatever reason I chose to write five chapters of exposition. This is where my head canon diverges sharply from Chris Carter's universe. You don't have to have read the previous works in the series (which fill in the blanks after Mulder's return in season 8). If you're confused by a reference that isn't canon, not to worry, it's likely from one of the earlier works in the series. *NOTE: As of July 2 I am in the process of reviewing (beta-ing?) this work to clean-up consistency issues, typeo-s and grammatical errors*
