Emma Nolan’s first mistake is assuming Dr Brendon Park is rude. Her second is taking it personally. What follows is a slow recalibration - of language, of expectations, of what care actually looks like when it isn’t softened for comfort. Park doesn’t do gentle. He does precise. And, increasingly, he does Emma. Somewhere between “summary, not detail,” being chosen without explanation, and a question asked with complete clarity, Emma realises she isn’t learning how to work with Park. She’s learning how to understand him. And maybe - how to be understood back.
