Fics like Before We Were Brave

“Excuse me,” said a voice beside her. “I was wondering if you could help me. There’s something wrong with my phone.” (...) Francesca blinked. “Sorry?” The woman held up her phone with a solemnity that fooled no one. “Terrible malfunction.” Francesca, still a step behind whatever was happening here, said, “Do you need to ring someone?” “That’s the issue,” the woman said. “It doesn’t have your number in it.” A modern AU Franchaela story in which Francesca Bridgerton goes to Spain for two weeks with her sister Eloise and their friend Sophie, fully intending to recover from heartbreak quietly and in peace. Instead, she meets Michaela Stirling. What begins as sun, flirtation, and something that looks like a holiday distraction slowly becomes harder to define, and even harder to ignore. In a place that feels far from home, Francesca finds herself drawn to a woman who makes wanting feel easy, and honesty feel like something neither of them quite knows how to do. And when the holiday ends, neither of them is brave enough to say what happens next.
