“You’ve been distracting me all day.” Taehyung’s pulse kicks up. “What?” “In the OR,” Jungkook’s gaze drops briefly to Taehyung’s mouth before flicking back up. “The way you move. The way you focus.” — Taehyung is a fifth-year surgical resident which means he is tired, overcaffeinated, clinically competent and usually one intern mistake away from committing a felony with a clipboard. Jeon Jungkook is worse. Reckless and arrogant, yet annoyingly brilliant and far too calm in emergencies for someone Taehyung would personally like to see humbled by a chart. They’ve been arguing long enough that the other residents mostly ignore them. Jungkook thinks he knows better, Taehyung is determined to prove he doesn’t, and neither of them has any business standing that close during a disagreement about a patient’s chart. It should be simple but it isn't because Jungkook keeps looking too long and turning every argument into something Taehyung refuses to diagnose, mostly because the obvious answer would be humiliating. — or: Taehyung is excellent with scalpels yet terrible with emotional honesty and Jungkook only looks like trouble until he becomes the steadiest thing in the room.
