Fics like Second First Meetings

“I’m telling you,” Ned insisted, hopping every few steps as he tried to wiggle his left foot and adjust the sock wrinkle bunched between his heel and the padded insert. “I’m telling you, something capital-W-Weird is up!” “No shit,” MJ drawled back, singularly unhelpful. But for all her usual unflappable demeanor, Ned knew good and well his best friend was also feeling antsy about this, this thing. This ‘invitation’ they’d both gotten, with a promise of reimbursement for their time provided they agreed to potentially sign an NDA afterward. Which, GEEZ. Some graduate students or younger professors would brag about being headhunted by different research and development companies and how high the associated dollar signs could get, but Ned and MJ haven’t even gotten through their first year at MIT, for them to have already been noticed somehow is- it’s just- it’s hinky. But when the one and only CEO of Stark Industries sent out an invitation, like hell would Ned turn it down.
