“What are you doing?” Mack asks, eyeing the scoop of protein powder Will’s precariously holding in one hand as he works to open a bag of frozen blueberries with the other. “Uhm, making my smoothie?” Will says it like a question, like Mack’s asking him something stupidly obvious. He dumps the powder in, watching it land with an unceremonious splat against the large scoop of yogurt he’s already put in. ***** It starts off innocent, really. They’re getting to the point in the season where their summer bulk is almost a forgotten memory between the late nights and grueling games. It’s nothing new, hockey players fluctuate throughout the season, if anything it’s normal.
