Fics like In the Margins of the Stars

Humanity really stood no chance, when the trolls arrived. Their home in ruins, the humans that remained scattered among the stars, hiding in half-functional ships in the darkest corners of the universe. Dave Strider, one such human and one of even fewer still rebelling, takes on a mission to save an infant from a highblood troll's personal collection. He goes in alone. He comes out with an infant, and a new ally in the form of one Karkat Vantas.
