Fics like Let the Light In. (Into the Basement.)

“Tom Ripley” - it was an ugly and vulgar word, that was what sat on Peter Smith-Kinglsey’s tongue; and despite the luridness behind it, without any context of knowing his true form, Peter Smith-Kingsley spoke of the name, with such resolution and faith that for a moment, Dickie Greenleaf wished to be Tom Ripley again. Even now, as Tom Ripley ate at his face, and shredded at his identity. Perhaps that was what wanted Tom Ripley to crawl out of his basement, where the rats scavenged and ate. Perhaps Peter Smith-Kingsley holds the key, and that was what Tom was looking for all these years. Perhaps, for once, esurient and stupid as the question was- he could let the light in. And as the backdoor was pounded on and banged by his seeker, he supposed he should let him in. _ Essentially, the undoing of Tom Ripley, and the opening of his basement.
