Fics like The Amazon and the Damn Egoist

Season 3 of Outer Banks ended with a glimpse of the Pogues 18 months after the El Dorado gold rush. But what happened during that time and a half? This is my take on the missing year and a half—a story about JJ Maybank, who is terrified of letting people in, and Kiara Carrera, who refuses to be pushed away. Set in the months following their return to the Outer Banks, they navigate newfound wealth, old wounds, and the fragile line between being friends or something more. JJ is determined to do the "right thing" for once by keeping Kiara at arm’s length for her own good. But Kiara isn't the type to wait around, and life (and their meddling friends) keeps forcing them together. From dealing with the fallout of their adventures, facing JJ’s abusive father, and confronting their own stubbornness, they must figure out if their connection is worth the risk.
