Fics like There's A Place Where The Light Won't Find You (But I Will Seek You Somewhere)

Hawkins, 1987. Four years have passed since that tragic November 6th, 1983, and the world seems to have forgotten William Byers. Everyone, except Mike Wheeler. As the weight of an unfillable absence consumes him, a military interception by Murray Bauman reignites an impossible hope: a mysterious figure is haunting the perimeter of the base within the Upside Down. Mike decides to brave the abyss to bring home the only person he never stopped looking for. But the Will he finds is no longer the shy boy he once knew: he is a survivor scarred by the void, with a fragmented memory and a dark connection to Vecna that threatens to consume him. Or Will was never found «Because your face haunts me.» Will snapped. «Ever since you appeared, I can’t sleep anymore. I feel as if something inside me has opened. And it hurts.» «Then why do you keep me alive, if I’m hurting you?» «It isn't you who’s hurting me. That’s the problem.»
