Fics like Ruin The Friendship

During her sophomore year, rising sports star Parker Atkinson suddenly finds herself thrusted into the spotlight as her high school football team’s starting quarterback after the starting player is sidelined by a serious accident. Already a softball standout, Parker faces the thrill of new opportunities and the scrutiny of doubters who can’t handle a female in the quarterback position. Amidst homophobic slurs, and skepticism Parker must prove not only her skill on the field but her strength off it. Her best friend and longtime crush, Emma Williams, is a straight-A student with her eyes set on Stanford. Emma has always been Parker’s quiet anchor, tutoring her through late-night homework sessions, cheering her on at every practice and game, and shielding her from the cruel remarks of others. While Parker struggles to focus on anything but Emma, neither wants to risk their friendship by confessing their feelings… until the tension between them becomes impossible to ignore. As Parker navigates the challenges of high school sports, first crushes, and family dynamics, including her supportive but hardworking single mother, she must also confront what it truly means to take risks, both on the field and in her heart.
