Fics like Down With The King

What if Scar raised Simba? In the wake of the gorge, the King is dead and the Prince is broken. But instead of the order to "run away and never return," Scar offers a different, more chilling mercy. He brings the guilt-ridden cub back to Pride Rock, shielding him from the "truth" with a promise of protection and a crown Simba is too shattered to wear. Raised under the shadow of a master manipulator, Simba grows into a formidable but hollow Prince caught between two worlds: the memory of a father he believes he murdered and the uncle he worships as his savior. Locked in a psychological game of cat and mouse with a Regent who will never step down, Simba is forced to realize that the "weak link" in the Pridelands might just be the King himself. In this dark, operatic reimagining of the classic tale, a Prince must decide if he is a monster, a puppet, or the rightful King—and whether the only way to save the Circle of Life is to break it entirely. This is a Dark AU with a darker and traumatized Simba.
