Fics like Mockingbird

Timothy Jackson Drake is a mimic—raised in a family that sheds visage like clothing. There are no fixed identities. No consistent voices. No one to imitate long enough to matter. The rule is simple: a mimic who imprints becomes a copy; a mimic raised in absence become themself. So Tim grows up in a house full of strangers, surrounded by all things needed to shape a proper Drake heir. It should have worked. It would have worked. But Tim finds his own constant. Grainy footage. Blurred images. A figure in black who never changes, no matter the angle, the night, the camera. Batman is the only stable thing Tim has ever seen—and Tim has never wanted anything more than to understand him. -------------- Batman: *has identity* Tim: you mean /our/ identity, comrade?
